Prior to Uniper, he served as the CEO of thyssenkrupp Elevator, leading the company through a transformation to become the innovation leader within the global industry while achieving record levels of profitability. The company’s value increased significantly, culminating in its sale in early 2020 for €17.2 billion, marking one of Europe's largest buyout deals ever. During his tenure, the company introduced the most significant innovations the industry had witnessed in over a century and consistently improved its business performance concurrently. Sales grew by 35%, EBIT increased by 67%, business cash flow tripled due to a positive development in net working capital, and the number of units under maintenance rose by 20%.
