• I worked on a project to find a smart and unique way to capture how users use Spotify mobile apps, desktop and web clients. The strategy was to centralize ownership of definitions, create a user behaviour instrumentation platform, codifying data scientists and developer collaboration.
• The solution for the problem was to create an “instrumentation specification” that defines components (such as song tracks, playlists, play button, etc.). The code generated from these specifications allows mobile developers to produce data quickly. Data pipelines then use the specifications to verify that incoming data are correct and present.
• My role as a senior mobile engineer was to help develop the code generator. I was also responsible for integrating generated code into the Android and iOS apps. I collaborated with other teams in Spotify, helping them use the user behaviour platform to create these specifications.
