• Mr. Lohrmann was Michigan's first Chief Security Officer (CSO) & Deputy Director within Michigan's Department of Technology Management & Budget (DTMB). Dan oversaw all aspects of cybersecurity, physical security, department emergency management, and critical infrastructure protection within state government.
• Dan led teams responsible for liaison roles in security with federal, state and local partners. He worked closely with criminal justice organizations, the private sector, the MS-ISAC, NASCIO and others to safeguard people, information and government assets.
• He represented the National Association of State CIOs (NASCIO) on the IT Government Coordinating Council (IT-GCC) led by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Dan also served in the Multi-State Information Sharing Analysis Center (MS-ISAC) and the Michigan InfraGard Executive Board.
• Dan's leadership in cybersecurity resulted in opportunities to advise the White House, the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS), federal, state and local governments, numerous private companies, non-profits on best practices.
• He was a leading government adviser for the Tech America Cloud Commission, and the lead to the National Governors Association (NGA) efforts on cybersecurity. In that regard, he testified at the NGA mid-year meeting on CSPAN, and led many workshops and special committees.

• Michigan State Government Chief Technology Officer (CTO) & Deputy Director for Infrastructure Services for the Department of Technology, Management & Budget (DTMB)
• Executive leadership and management overseeing all aspects of IT infrastructure and enterprise architecture for all 19 executive branch departments. Provide strategic vision and operational oversight for more than 750 government staff 400 contractors and an annual budget of well over $200 million.
• As Director of Infrastructure and a Department Deputy Director, Dan oversaw telecommunications & networks, project management, office automation, field services, customer support center (help desk), data center operations, the Michigan Public Safety Communications System (MPSCS) and the overall backoffice technical support group.
• Key projects included cloud computing, server virtualization, desktop standardization, broadband expansion, Health IT, new wireless network offerings, cost reductions through innovative projects, customer service improvements, e911, e-discovery and email archiving efforts.
• New network and security partnerships were forged with the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as well as counties and local governments in Michigan. Award winning projects country-wide projects (NASCIO, Computerworld, eRepublic and other) that Dan's team developed included MI-Cloud, data center monitoring and management, ITIL service management implementation and help desk consolidation and improvements.

• Director of Michigan's Office of Enterprise Security and became the State's first Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) in 2002. First enterprise-wide CISO for U.S. state governments. Built award-winning teams - with several former staff now CISOs and global security leaders.
• Managed security policy and enforcement. Implemented over 30 security projects. Emergency Management Coordinator for department. Led response to Blackout of 2003 and Cyber Storm I & II exercises. Established initial enterprise-wide cyber security program in Michigan, creating roles, responsibilities and processes. Recognized as national model for central security function in government.
• Lead for Secure Michigan Initiative and author several security white papers and award-winning cybersecurity presentations.
• Dan was named CSO of the Year by SC Magazine and Public Official of the Year by Governing Magazine in 2008.
• Dan was an executive board member of the Multi-State Information Sharing & Analysis Center (MS-ISAC), which coordinates cybersecurity actions among the 50 states, and founder of the Michigan State and Local Government ISAC. Lohrmann also served on several state and federal security councils and working groups. He represents the National Association of State CIOs (NASCIO) on the IT Government Coordinating Council (IT-GCC) led by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
• Helped in editing National Infrastrucuture Protection Plan (NIPP), and wrote parts of sector-specific plans for the IT. State team member for other DHS-sponsored security publications and presentations.
