Head of IT

Jul 2008Mar 2013 · 4 yrs 8 mos · Sydney, Australia

  • As Head of IT I lead the technology function with full financial and operational responsibility for all IT operations, infrastructure and projects for the Australian arm of a global ASX listed financial services organisation (ASX: HFA). Reporting directly to the CEO.
  • Responsible preparation and presentation of board reports for IT strategy, IT budgets, forecasts and ROI and IT Project proposals.
  • Major projects included national network redesign consolidating national branch offices (5 racks of physical servers) to a virtualised datacentre environment (1/2 rack of virtual hosts, storage and fabric) with geographically dispersed DR solution. Provided significant benefit to the company through aligning IT with the business’s strategy of reducing operational overheads, empowering a remote workforce, increasing efficiency and most importantly significantly reducing overall cost.
  • Design and implementation of an online reporting system allowing 4,000 clients secure online access to their portfolio information. Project involved managing entire SDLC from scoping to designing data ETL through to website design. Greatly decreased inbound call volume as clients became self-service.
  • Designed internal reporting system giving executives transparency into daily movement of fund flows. Reduced report compile times to 60 seconds from multiple days and reduced error rate to zero.
  • Integrated sales process automation and reporting dashboards via Salesfoce.com for the distribution and executive teams.
  • Managed implementation of a reporting system consolidating data outputs from 15 fund platforms into Salesforce utilising cloud compute resources via AWS. Involved managing offshore technical staff and internal stakeholders. This provided insight into fund movements that was previously unreportable.
