About

In 2011, I founded YourNest Venture Capital, an early-stage venture fund that liberates ‘entrepreneurial potential’ for creating extraordinary value while investing in vibrant, technology-enabled business ideas because, personally, I believe in Conscious Capitalism and relish driving businesses that involve a high sense of purpose. YourNest partners with 'Challengineer' founders at an early stage. We invest financial capital along with nurturance, and provide a network of advisors and mentors. Together, we build and scale IP-led tech startups from India. My own journey has been one of winning trust by being open, frank and, above-all, honest to myself and the teams I have worked with. During my working life, interventions such as ‘Leadership at the Top' by the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) made me realise that creativity and intellect may not have been my core strengths. However, since an early age, I have surrounded myself with people who are far more talented than myself and aligning that talent, empowering them for a common purpose has always worked to my advantage – and to that of the organisation. I am, If I may so myself, a good listener, a quick learner, and a specialist in execution. I also find myself strong with numbers, commercials, financial structures, business modelling and foreseeing trends. The notion of YourNest Venture Capital was born in April 2010 when I was on a sabbatical, reflecting and identifying what moves me after a successful career in managing companies. Since then, I have lived as though every day was the last day of my life with the sole purpose of seeing India become the ‘golden bird’ once again by serving the world with its knowledge and spirituality. I have chosen to play the role that I believe is my forté: give wings to entrepreneurship and innovation. And so, in 2011, along with Sanjay Pande, an experienced coach, and Girish Shivani, an analyst and technology expert, we conceptualised and founded YourNest Venture Capital and launched our first fund – YourNest Angel Fund – the next year.

Yournest venture capital

Managing Director & Fund Manager

Apr 2011Present · 15 yrs 2 mos · Gurgaon, India

  • YourNest Venture Capital is a sharply focused 'Pre-Series A' fund house that was established in 2011 to nurture global market leaders from India. It invests in technology-led, enterprise-driven (B2B) and DeepTech (IoT, SaaS) start-ups. We see India swiftly shifting from an IT service outsourcing-hub to an IP/Patent driven 'Product Nation' with compelling investment opportunities.
  • Our first fund of US$ 14 mn, started in 2012, has several potential companies in its 16-member portfolio that can individually deliver the entire fund corpus and has a visibility of a 5x return to position it in the top decile. Having completely invested this first fund, YourNest is currently raising, and deploying from, its second fund of US$ 45 mn to invest in Indian start-ups with a focus on DeepTech.
  • In a country where entrepreneurship is encouraged but comes with its own challenges, the Indian Deep-Tech eco-system is rapidly evolving. Adept at identifying daring founders and emerging ideas, the YourNest team of five experienced partners include a business builder, a leadership coach, a global technology leader, an analyst and a technologist. As local Fund Managers they operate as unified enablers to nurture and guide our portfolio companies to global success as they benefit from our experience, networks and resources worldwide to build enterprises that dominate markets.
  • The YourNest team combines what may well be India’s widest access to prospective investees along with a rigorously prudent selection process that enables us to stay true to our investment thesis. In addition, we give our investors transparent access and exposure to high-growth, under-the-radar tech start-ups in India.
  • We are excited about bringing together like-minded evangelists, change leaders and creative souls with diverse knowledge and skillsets but a common passion to co-create a better world with the path-breaking use of technology.
