About

Hi there! I'm an engineer on the React Core team. I work on React Forget, an auto reactivity compiler for React. Previously I worked on React Server Components (https://reactjs.org/server-components) to bring ✨ new data fetching capabilities ✨ to React apps. Prior to Meta, I was an Engineering Manager at Netflix in the UI Engineering organization. I worked with a high-performance senior engineering team to build out a global content creation studio for Netflix. We invested in great user experiences to bring great stories from all over the world to life. Before management, I was the engineering lead for the Studio Programming team, delivering a sophisticated intelligence tool for scheduling and programming billions of dollars worth of original content. My superpower is connecting the dots. Although formally educated in Finance, I've been involved in the intersections of technology, design, and business for more than a decade. As a self-taught designer and programmer, I empathize and learn rapidly to connect the cross-functional teams that I work with together. With my multidisciplinary background, I understand deeply that a large number of problems we try to solve for are very much human problems. I'm an active contributor to open source–maintaining a number of popular libraries, and a regular speaker at leading JavaScript, TypeScript, GraphQL, Ruby and Elixir conferences.

  • I led Studio UI Foundations, a team of 12 senior UI engineers. We were an inclusive and diverse team that built a suite of core Netflix studio user experiences. The Studio UI Foundations team partnered closely with business & creative stakeholders, product managers, and designers. The tools we built enabled the Netflix studio to discover & manage the talent that work on productions, the vendors that provided services to us, the creative projects and workflows that result in hits like Stranger Things, Bird Box, and more.
  • Previously, I led Talent Innovation Engineering, a team of 11 UI and backend engineers (I hired 9) focusing on a narrower space.

  • :I led the Studio Programming engineering team (3 engineers), creating a sophisticated intelligence tool for programming billions of dollars worth of content. We enabled Netflix to significantly scale the way it programs and schedules original content. We eliminated many manual workflows across content buying teams and brought in data science for intelligent programming recommendations. Today, our flagship product is the primary way programming and scheduling decisions are made at Netflix.
