  • problems I solved/achievements made :
  • automated azure active directory operations and sso groups
  • managed 50+ intune compliance and configuration policies
  • migrated the entire company from zoom to teams
  • migrated the entire company from slack to teams
  • built 150+ windows autopilot images to reduce setup time
  • pentest security hardening
  • data loss prevention
  • migrated from bitdefender to microsoft defender
  • power automate implementations
  • failures/learnings I've had :
  • not every problem has a complex technical solution
  • tight cost controls should be at the center of infra management
  • tight access controls should be at the center of IAM (easier said than done btw)
  • not learning from mistakes is a mistake

TA Specialist

  • built engineering teams
  • problems i solved/achievements made :
  • scalable hiring and being directly involved in employee count increase of 250% +
  • streamlining the TA process
  • research on incentive design to hire top talent, really fast
  • failures/learnings I've had :
  • a team who has the ability to pay a certain cost to automate a long term process which will make them more efficient, but is not paying for it, is already paying for it. (read that again) (opportunity cost)
  • concise and clear communication goes a long way
  • always report every single development to the stakeholders, no one should get an unwanted surprise in a meeting
  • integrity, energy and intelligence are baseline qualities to look for in hiring new people, make sure all three of those are present, as absence of even 1 will cause enormous damage over time
  • maintain "decision logs" to understand what is working, why, and how marginal improvements can be made to the process over time
  • morals and ethical standards are critical, don't do anything that will make you lose sleep (read about the Newspaper Test by Warren Buffet)

  • was learning how to build engineering teams
  • I get asked a lot about my decision of working in a PeopleOps/TA role (although for only a year) while having being educated in IT, here are my honest reasons
  • this decision was made partly due to my curiosity on how management teams operate (without wanting to have an MBA to enter)
  • the opportunity sounded fun and interesting when presented to me (and it was!)
  • it was a gamble, but it turned out to be one of the best experiences I have had in my career and I met a lot of awesome people who were better than myself in a lot of ways, a majority of whom became lifelong friends
  • if you do not have immediate expenses to take care of right after college, I would advise to experiment working in different teams and projects for a year or so (basis your curiosity, interest and risk appetite) - the net result in terms of experience is almost always positive in terms of learning what to do and what not to
