Praveen Nahar — Product Manager

Praveen Nahar served as Director of the National Institute of Design (NID) Ahmedabad from 2019 to 2024, managing its extension campuses in Gandhinagar and Bengaluru. He has been part of NID’s faculty in Industrial Design since 2002. His academic and professional expertise encompasses Systems Oriented Design, Design Thinking, Sustainable/Green Design, Design in the Public Domain, Social Design, Appropriate Technology, and Strategic Design. Beyond his tenure as Director, Nahar has been a key member of NID’s Senate and Policy Planning Committee. He has held pivotal roles, including Discipline Lead for Product Design, Founding Faculty of Transportation Design, and Activity Chairperson, while heading departments such as Design Consultancy Services, International Programmes, and the Knowledge Management Centre. He remains actively involved in mentoring students through academic projects centered on systems thinking and design, addressing complex challenges in fields such as healthcare and mobility. Nahar has also spearheaded and contributed to research and consultancy projects across both industrial and social sectors at various levels. A frequent international speaker, he has presented at forums, conducted workshops, and led seminars on Systems Oriented Design, Sustainability, and Design Thinking. Nahar is also an active member of national and international networks, serving on juries, scientific committees, and advisory boards.
