About

I am a Senior Applied Scientist at Microsoft, where I work on advancing the Microsoft 365 suite — including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word — by building intelligent features that enhance productivity for billions of users worldwide. My focus lies in developing large-scale applied machine learning solutions that integrate seamlessly into everyday workflows to make people’s work smarter and more efficient. Prior to this, I was an Applied Scientist II in International Machine Learning at Amazon, where I specialized in building and deploying large-scale forecasting and recommendation systems. My work involved leveraging advanced techniques such as graph neural networks, causal inference, and hierarchical modeling to solve complex problems in demand forecasting. I successfully scaled and productionized multiple systems that recommended products for sellers to onboard at cluster, category, and brand levels. These solutions were deployed across all sellers pan-India, consistently exceeding revenue targets between 2023 and 2025 and generating millions of dollars in incremental revenue. To address data sparsity, I designed custom business-specific loss functions. This work was recently published at IAAI 2025. Earlier, I represented my work at Amazon’s internal ML conferences (2022 and 2023), where our forecasting solutions received the Best Paper Award for their measurable business impact. Before joining Amazon, I worked at Cisco, where I developed ML systems for production log analysis and explainable speech emotion detection, along with backend development using Spring Boot, Postgres, and Docker. I hold an M.Tech in Computer Science from IIT Guwahati (Class of 2020). My master’s thesis, published at SDPEMNLP 2020, introduced ERLKG, a pipeline for predicting biomedical entities similar to COVID-19 — some of which were later explored as potential treatments. Outside of work, I enjoy playing guitar, discovering new music, and exploring cutting-edge ideas in machine learning.

  • I successfully scaled and productionized multiple demand forecasting systems that provided sellers with recommendations on which products to onboard for the upcoming quarter at a cluster level. These recommendations spanned various granularities, including product, category, and brand levels, and were implemented across all sellers pan-India. By leveraging graph neural networks, hierarchical modeling, creating business specific custom loss functions to handle data sparsity, and causal inference techniques, I worked extensively with large-scale data to develop these solutions. My models consistently surpassed annual revenue targets in India from 2023 to 2025, generating few million dollars in revenue. This work was recognised as the best paper in Amazon’s internal conference 2023 and recently got published in IAAI 2025.

  • During my tenure, I primarily focused on the development and application of graph neural networks for demand forecasting. I have also honed my skills in designing custom loss functions tailored to specific product use cases, which has significantly improved the accuracy and reliability of our models. Additionally, I delved into the fascinating field of causal inference, applying it to the domain of forecasting to enable causal forecasting.
  • Since joining Amazon, I have successfully deployed five models to production, that have had a massive impact on the Indian marketplace. These models have contributed to significant business growth and optimization. Moreover, I had the privilege of representing my team at AMLC in Dallas last year, where the work was awarded the Best Paper for our outstanding work in the field of forecasting.
