As a current Master’s student in Computational Linguistics at the University of Washington, I am confident that my extensive experience and prior research, coupled with my strong organizational and interpersonal skills, make me an excellent candidate for MLE roles.. During my 4 years in the industry at American Express, PayPal, and Standard Chartered, I have evolved from an individual contributor to leading technical initiatives that impact thousands of users. At Standard Chartered, I singlehandedly developed an API management framework that scaled to support over 1,300 configurable endpoints by writing over 10,000 lines of code, while at American Express, I implemented a language translation feature that helped me understand latency issues when deploying LLMs for inference on a single-core v/s an 8-core CPU in production. These experiences have equipped me with professional expertise in full-stack development, distributed systems, and applied machine learning, along with the ability to independently drive complex technical projects from ideation to production - capabilities I'm eager to use in an industry research setting. While balancing my full-time software engineering role with independent research projects, I discovered my true calling lies in industrial machine learning research. I believe that my prior research experience in auditing LLMs for intersectional biases and using LLMs for fine-grained customizable content moderation adds great value to my engineering skills. I have developed skills in literature review, NLP engineering, and manuscript writing, which are essential in the modern fullstack ML engineering pipeline and allowed me to become a fullstack machine learning engineer - from brainstorming the best possible solution to deploying it in production and serving it easily to the end users. I am particularly drawn to commitment towards diversity, equity, and inclusion. My academic work has involved using technology to analyze and detect hate speech and transphobia in online content, reflecting my personal commitment to fostering more equitable environments. I am eager to contribute to an organization that shares these core values.
