Visit us at: https://www.doidspa.in/ The Department of Industrial Design, now more than 25 years old was started in 1992, offers a 2-year postgraduate program in Masters in Design. Open to Architects and Engineers, the primary aim of the programme is to foster a wholesome design experience through an interdisciplinary process of teaching and training. Theoretical, technological and managerial inputs, which are dealt with through various courses, seminars and workshops are all directed towards this central goal. The determination to take a professional design approach to the interpretation of culture and conversely to use design as a tool for cultural enrichment is the focal point of the programme. The programme maintains close links with the industry, both in order to keep in touch with the latest developments in industrial processes and to ensure that the course remains relevant and comprehensive.

“Design Premiere 2019” showcases the Final Year Degree Projects of the graduating batch of 2019. This year, the exhibition showcases innovative products and designs in domains of Wellness, Better Living, Fisheries, Learning and Skill Development, Water, Sports and Games, Tourism and Natural material exploration.
These projects are the culmination of 16 weeks of research, ideation, conceptualisation and prototyping to bring these ideas to life. The projects are mentored by the Studio Team: Parag Anand (Head, DoID), Aditi Singh (Thesis Studio Director) & Dharmesh Jaiswal.

Design Premiere 2018

“Design Premiere 2018”, the annual Design Degree exhibition, showcases the innovative work of 21 graduating students from the Department of Industrial Design (DoID), School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi. The School of Planning and Architecture has the prestigious distinction of being an “Institution of National Importance” and is under the Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The exhibition showcases innovative products in domains ranging from hospitality to social innovation, mobility to education and sports to healthcare.
In these Final Year Degree Projects (Master of Design Course), conducted over a span of 16 weeks. With study, research, analysis, concept generation and subsequent development of solutions, they have carried the projects into completion as prototypes that can be further developed for production.
The Government of India has declared this decade the ‘Decade of Innovations, Driven by Design’. Thus this public exhibition, held annually in prominent locations, is an attempt for academia to connect with the rest of the city, the general public, businesses, industry to spread design awareness and create design related dialogue and discourse.
Through design thinking, innovation and a human-centric approach, these projects demonstrate how good design can be the key differentiator for a business while being culturally, socially and environmentally appropriate.
This exhibition is a set of 20 design stories, tales of how these products evolved. The projects were guided by Prof Parag Anand (Head of Department, ID), Prof Aditi Singh (Degree Show Co-ordinator), Ratna Chatterjee and Amit Gulati.

This five day exhibition was held from the 27th to 31st of May at the Visual Arts Gallery, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
