• Coverfox is India's fastest growing online insurance broker and aggregator. At Coverfox, I was responsible for delivery on the technology side. My role included, but was not limited to the following:
• Managing technology side of the motor and health insurance business
• Evolving the technology team to a mature self-sufficient function working with product. Helped setup processes for project management, QA and delivery.
• Platform architecture - led various implementations in scaling the backend platform, dev-ops processes, zero-downtime deployments etc.

• While heading engineering at Plancess, a funded startup in online education space, I was responsible for the following:
• Led the development of completely new e-commerce and video content delivery platform. This included development of a properietary DRM solution for the copyrighted video content as well as an ffmpeg based video encoding solution for splitting video content at exact keyframes for adaptive streaming.
• Developed a markdown, latex and SVG based content storage and tagging solution for the upcoming assessment platform. The idea was to store content in non-rasterised formats to be able to optimise content later for various platforms.
• Plancess assessment platform: Developed the architecture as well as the development till beta for the new assessment platform for school students.
• Devops - Managed the complete stack as well as database (Postgresql) on AWS.
• Hiring as well as training of on-boarding developers.

• Hungama.com is an online digital music distribution platform. It holds the largest portfolio of digital music rights in India. At Hungama I worked on the following:
• Replaced the existing search infrastructure using Solr/lucene based solution. API layer was implemented in Python/Django. I was the solo engineer developing and maintaining this solution which served millions of music search queries every month on hungama.com and bollywoodhungama.com
• Wrote custom scoring algorithms to replace the default TFIDF scoring in Lucene which does not work so well for very small documents and exact search.
• Implemented spell check and fuzzy search layer using trigram based matching algorithms.

• As a software architect on the project I developed a 3D graphical user interface and visualizer which incorporated the engineering models to find the optimum (in the sense of minimizing energy required to maintain room temperature) street grid layout of buildings given the local weather conditions. The models were developed as part of the PhD thesis of a fellow researcher. I also wrote a genetic algorithm solver to speedup the solution search in the nonlinear space.

• Nautank.TV was an online TV content publishing platform. We partnered with various indian networks like Star TV, MTV, ZeeTV and provide ad supported popular content. It was later acquired by Hungama.com. Major responsibilities included but not limited to:
• Video encoding optimisation for various endpoints such as mobile, web and WAP.
• Using sphinx (http://sphinxsearch.com) to provide infrastructure for content search via python APIs.
• Devops. Postgresql server optimisation. Slow query optimisation. Replication via slony, pgbouncer.etc.
• Single handedly developed the live video encoding and broadcast infrastructure for telecasting the Indian 2009 parliamentry elections online in collaboration with ZeeTV.
