Entrepreneur during the day, Engineer at night. Abhishek is a Data Scientist by profession and CEO by the needs with a total of 8+ years of experience in various roles. His personal vision is to advance the field of AI that can ultimately contribute towards solutions for social issues. This is reflected in the vision of his startup, Soket Labs. He started his professional life as a freelance web developer, which transitioned into a design studio startup. He has done his post-graduation in Computational and Data Sciences from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, specialising in High-Performance Computing and Distributed Systems. He has work experience in various big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, Giraph, and various distributed systems or Blockchain technologies like Ethereum and Libp2p. He has also been engaged with the smart cities mission initially as a fellow for building a DataSpace for smart cities to streamline their data management capabilities through data processing pipelines and creating data standards for urban mobility. He has worked with the Data and Management Unit as a Data Scientist to support various data initiatives in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and National Institute of Urban Affairs. He co-lead the Wastewater Intelligence Network Program which aims to institutionalise Wastewater-based Epidemiology for healthcare surveillance and use of data for decision making in pandemic management.

Wastewater Intelligence Network Programme aims to strenghten healthcare surveillance through the use of Wastewater-based Epidemiology. WIN is currently deployed in Surat to track the presence of SARS-CoV-2 virus in different catchment areas. We collect wastewater samples from STPs and manholes and test it using RT-PCR to estimate the viral load in the population of the catchment.
