• This project was aimed to implement an automated Workflow to render the most viewed content from Akamai Net Storage (Remote Origin) for Asia PAC OTT customers. Rest of all content is rendered to local origin as it is today. Open Video (OV) database is augmented data tags to indicate content’s remote origin status. An auxiliary Media Processor (MP) workflow is created that can statically package and protect a set of media in the required formats (DASH and HLS) with the required DRMs (Wide vine and Fair Play) and drop it into a specific local folder. Periodically a micro service will scan the OV database for changed remote origin status. For any content that is no longer required to be on remote origin, change content encoding records to point back at SD origin (unless expired) and remove from Net Storage.

This platform integrates metadata across all TV services: linear, video on demand (VOD), digital video recorder (DVR), and more. It also provides consistent search and discovery (Elastic Search) from any subscriber device. Catalog Management creates a unified operational plane with messaging bus (Active MQ) as the backbone to manage all content metadata and channel maps from a single interface. It also provides an open platform to support integration with third-party recommendation engines and other advanced catalog
