• Created the direction and plan on a migration from dedicated web servers to a scalable Kubernetes cluster and AWS Aurora. This allowed for a 75% monthly savings, in cost, while providing a better user experience.
• Lead a team of developers to architect and develop a custom ERP application for an engineering company.
• Provided direction, and created policies, to a development and marketing firm on how to standardize the development practices for continuous integration while ensuring they obtain HIPAA compliance. Team was taught a combination of Agile with Kanban as well as the philosophy of “failing fast.”
• Developed a set of REST APIs, using AWS Autoscaling, Python and a custom Selenium scraping framework. APIs can scale to utilize hundreds of AWS EC2 instances. Code is deployed using Bash, AWS Code Build, AWS Code Deploy and AWS Code Pipeline for CI/CD.
• Rearchitected and recoded a website for a prison. Identified and removed a direct connection to their backend database, from the internet, and removed the dependency on the Cold Fusion development language.

• Managed up to 25 reports with senior titles in Development, Quality Assurance and Helpdesk. This allowed me complete control of the full software development lifecycle. As a result, we were always raising the bar for our competition. Always faced with doing more with less.
• Introduced the Agile development methodology into our development procedures. This allowed more frequent qualified updates to the product and streamlined releases to production.
• Instituted the need to have automated tests as part of our continuous integration. We have close to 500 automated tests that are run nightly. Automation code architecture was created thru an outsourced company. We have since taken the code in-house to continue growing the number of tests and increase the quality of our production code.
• Work with Product Managers to determine the strategic direction our flagship products, Adept Desktop and Adept Explorer (web front end), should take. These products are document management and version control systems for CAD Engineers. Our team is 20x smaller than our biggest competitor Autodesk, yet we win sales against them continually due to our superior, and industry leading, set of features.
• Work with our Chief Architect and managers on how best to implement new features and reviewing 3rd party applications for integration into the Adept platform.
• Evaluating trends in the industry and how they can be introduced or how they affect our development, quality assurance and/or help desk departments.
• Designed numerous R&D projects to prototype ideas before implementing the ideas into our product.
• Work with our Help Desk team on various issues our escalated clients are encountering. Then formulating resolutions to ensure customers are satisfied and the product more stable in their environment.

• Architected and managed the development of an Application Service Provider (ASP) property management system. This application is one of a handful of web-based property management system available on the market. This application is unique in that “out of the box” you can manage commercial, condo or residential type of properties. This application feeds an in-house developed full accounting system.
• Gathered requirements, developed technical documents, architected and managing the development of a custom general ledger, accounts receivable and accounts payable system. This application can best be described as a web version of Quickbooks. We are about 80% complete with features at the moment.
• Responsible for managing a team of programmers, quality assurance professionals, information technology members and implementation specialists.

• Manage the staff and development of a custom e-commerce application, similar in function to eBay.com, to manage auctions of collectable sports memorabilia. The application allows the client to completely manage the auctions, consignors, bidders, invoices, shipping and e mailing.
• Managed the staff and development of a custom e-commerce application to sell bridesmaid dresses. This site is a bit different from other e-commerce sites because it utilizies an expert system to help narrow down the type of dress desired.
• Managed the staff and development of a custom e-commmerce application to sell photography equipment online. This application is a typical e-commerce application coded from scratch. There are more than twenty feeds to various price comparison sites.

• Managed a systems staff consisting of web developers, client/server programmers, database administrators, LAN support, mainframe print composition specialists, a graphic designer and a business analyst.
• Managed the concept, design and implementation of a web-based portal for the Merrill Lynch print and mail facility. This portal was very application intensive. There were datafeeds from client service representatives, printers, inserters and custom applications. The primary function of the portal was to allow Merrill Lynch employees, from around the world, access to client statement information. Every one of Merrill Lynch’s 7,000,000 clients receives at least one statement and thus has information in the database. The database maintains the current month and three previous months of statement information.
• The staff I managed, to maintain the portal, consisted of :
• o Oracle Database Administrators managing a database of 35,000,000 records where every month 7,000,000 – 12,000,000 new records are generated for month end processing (history is retained for 3 months only.)
• o Java developers to write applications that query, update information and report against the database above using J2EE, EJB, Struts, MSMQ, XML and DHTML
• o Mainframe print composition specialists to manipulate print file to add bar codes to track each statement thru its life cycle until it is ultimately mailed using Cobol and Streamweaver
• o Client/Server programmers created an order entry and reconciliation system for the 1500 monthly jobs that must get processed to handle the 7,000,000 12,000,000 monthly statements using Visual Basic .NET, MSMQ, XML
• Managed the development and implementation of the suppression of financial advisor statements. This was a web based front-end application with back-end mainframe processing. This resulted in about $1,000,000 monthly savings since April 2001.
