  • Product Description:
  • The SAE-GW is the gateway which performs the functionality of both PDN-GW(PGW) and Serving Gateway (SGW). Some basic SAE-GW principles are, a common gateway node and anchor point for all technologies, an optimized architecture for the user plane with only two node types, an all IP based system with IP based protocols used on all interfaces, a split in the control / user plane between the MME, mobility management entity and the gateway.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Indirect tunneling implementation done for S1 handover.
  • UE Redirection feature enhancement.
  • Bug Fixing for Management module of SAE-GW.
  • Block Test Automation done for various EPC Call flows to test SAE-GW with C based simulators.
  • API Testing done for multiple blocks of SAE-GW.

  • Project Name : LTE – PGW (PDN Gateway)
  • Project Description : The PGW is the gateway which terminates the SGi interface towards PDN. PGW provides connectivity from the UE to external PDN by being the point of entry or exit of traffic for the UE. The PGW manages policy enforcement, packet filtration for users, charging support and LI.
  • Responsibility:
  • Implemented Reauthorization procedure of policy rules from PCRF.
  • Implemented UE Redirection feature in PGW data plane.
  • Implemented GTPU interface.
  • Enhanced performance and optimization of memory usage of the node.
  • Reviewed developed codes by the peer
  • Played as an anchor role for providing technical training to the team.

  • Project Title : LTE-SGW (Node of LTE-Core Networks).
  • Solution Environment : Linux
  • Language : C
  • Protocol Involved : GTP-C, GTP-U
  • Description : LTE-SGW is a LTE-Core Network node which is also known as Serving Gateway which routes and forwards the packet to other nodes like LTE-MME and LTE-PGW.
  • Node Functionality :
  • X2 - Based Handover (when eNB changes and direct connection between target eNB and source eNB exists)
  • S1 - Based Handover (when eNB changes and no - direct connection exists between target eNB and source eNB)
  • Inter - RAT Handover ( handover between LTE and UMTS)
  • Local mobility anchor for inter-evolved Node B (eNB) handover
  • Mobility anchor for inter-third-generation partnership project
  • (3GPP) mobility
  • Evolved UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) idle-mode
  • downlink packet buffering and initiation of network triggered service
  • request procedure
  • Lawful intercept
  • Packet routing/forwarding
  • Transport level packet marking (uplinking and downlinking)
  • Accounting on user and Quality of Service (QoS) class identifier granularity
  • For inter-operator charging
  • Uplink and downlink charging per user equipment, packet data node
  • (PDN), and QoS class identifier (for roaming with home routed traffic)
  • Responsibilities :
  • Developing the functionality of Handover in LTE - SGW
  • a) X2 - Based Handover : without SGW change and with SGW change
  • b) S1 - Based Handover : with eNB , MME , SGW change
  • c) Inter - Rat Handover : from LTE to UMTS and vice versa
  • d) Indirect Tunneling and Indirect Forwarding
  • Involved in Simulator Development of LTE-MME and LTE-PGW.
  • Involved in Load/Soak Testing of the Node.
  • Working to Increase the Performance and Memory Optimization of the Node.
  • Involved in Bug Fixing.
