As the HEAD- VisioNxt at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), I lead a cutting-edge research and direction team exploring the socio-psychological, cultural, and behavioral aspects of Foresights in the Indian subcontinent to map future direction. With over 25 years of experience in the industry and academia, I have helped many international brands and organizations to understand and tap into the diverse and dynamic Indian market. My mission is to empower the next generation of designers, marketers, and innovators with the knowledge and skills of color psychology, artificial intelligence, social design, and creative direction. I have published multiple papers and articles, delivered lectures and presentations in prestigious forums, and mentored students and alumni across India and abroad. I am also the founder member of the Color Association of India and the founder of InkLink Trust, a social initiative that promotes creative education and youth empowerment.

  • In a colourful and pluralist country like India, color psychology is also wide and varied depending on the cultural synthesis, climate, ethnography, origin, demography and socio-political scenarios. Nippon Color Vision is the first ever zonal color forecast and Youth color forecast in India. No other company ever published a well-researched and detailed indigenous color forecast which celebrates the zonal and youth color-tendencies of this very nation.
  • Keeping the very essence of this pluralistic and culturally vibrant country, Nippon Paint color forecasting process started in March 2018 through 6 focus group discussions, round tables and color-mapping workshops with 114 participants (influencers, industry experts, peer leaders, social catalysts and color-thinkers) from across India. The immersive focus groups were guided with the color-image-emotion association model and Dr. Kaustav SenGupta’s copyright system of Color-consciousness apart from other tools and systems. All the events were coordinated, curated and anchored by Dr. SenGupta (color expert, futurist, youth insights expert, color system developer with more than 2 decades of experience) and his able team from NIFT in presence of Nippon’s core team. Over a year, Dr. SenGupta and a team of visual analysts & designers from NIFT, Chennai worked relentlessly to map the key mega mind-sets to develop the first ‘impressions’ for the mega-color direction. The same was further refined and re-aligned to emerge as the first ever zonal color direction for Indian subcontinent.
  • Nippon Color Vision forecast is free-to-access and explorative in nature. It is also well segmented so that the designers, architects, design students and design enthusiasts can refer the stories for their color explorations and designing.
