• As part of the Relevance team of Bing! Search Engine, I worked primarily on intent mining, Entity extraction, Data analysis and Database optimizations.
• ▪️ Among the primary contributors in building the end-to-end pipeline for Sub-intent Mining based on work done in the research paper "Active Objects: Actions for Entity-Centric Search".
• ▪️ Sub-intent Mining focuses on inferring the (latent or explicit) user intent(s) for entity-bearing queries to power rich and high level user experience scenarios.
• ▪️ Helped on board two team members. We shipped 53 models to production over 2 years.
• ▪️ Introduced temporal sensitivity to the mining algorithm, improving overall precision from 91% to 93%. Presented poster at Microsoft ML conference 2014 for the same.
• ▪️ As a proof of concept, created web interface that clustered URLs based on detected user intended action and on the hidden intent within the query. Delivered console application used by Cortana team to mine authoritative websites for distinct user tasks.
• ▪️ Semi-automated Sub-intent model selection using entity extraction, inverse document frequency and topic modeling over mined Wikipedia articles. This side project saved over 20 hours of manual work for each new subintent model trained.
• ▪️ Responsible for the measurement strategy, crowd-sourcing and development of infrastructure to evaluate models based on relevant metrics.
• ▪️ Optimized internal web tool used to debug machine-learnt models, reducing the average analysis time from 3 minutes to 8 seconds.

• I also did Facebook App development during this time where my apps collectively engaged more than 1 Million users.
