  • Current role & client: Service Designer at Shell
  • I am responsible for engaging internal stakeholders and our customers to generate insights about the service of Commercial Fuels. When I can it a service, I mean the entire ecosystem that delivers the product and that includes SMH. We do that to make sure that we find insights that are focused on valuable opportunities across the ecosystem rather than just SMH. Hence, most of our interviews start with understanding the business goals and processes, before diving down further into specific use cases and pain points.
  • This also includes a responsibility to evangelize the insights that I have learned, with an impact. I share stories that bring to light the value that our customers expect, but usually cannot put into words themselves. These stories need to be told across the board: to our business stakeholders, management team as well as technical teams, in a way that unifies them towards valuable outcomes through empathy for our customers and co-creation as a team, rather than just specify paint points or features.
  • Since research works closely with design, I also work closely with my fellow designers and sometimes contribute in the form of wireframes to communicate myself. I have experience as a designer myself and I like to be hands-on, trying to make the insights and stories “visible” in ways that my fellow colleagues can read them easily.
  • I have an interest in creating value and building services and products, so I like to engage closely with the Product Management function, to get an insight into how product pipelines and backlogs are built as well as how they engage leadership stakeholders. As a researcher and designer, I believe that good insights are impactful, good designs are accessible, and the final outcome needs to be viable as well as feasible. The viability and feasibility part is what brings me close to the PM and Development teams, in an effort to bring the value to life in the real world.

Master Thesis in User Experience Design

Jun 2015Nov 2015 · 5 mos · Pune/Pimpri-Chinchwad Area

  • Brief: To research and design the user experience for a large ( approximately 17 inch ) centre console display with minimal or no hard controls for a car in urban India 2022.
  • Design exercises: User Research, Information Architecture, Interaction Design, Visual Design
  • Working within a corporate environment along with a dedicated & highly competitive design team taught me how to effectively think & deliver design.
  • At the same time, the complexity of designing an automotive infotainment system brought me head-to-head with my own shortcomings as a designer and helped me grow immensely.
  • This project continued beyond my tenure at Visteon. Given the first hand opportunity to work on such an expansive project, I decided to completely rework it and gain a deeper understanding. The time hence invested has borne great learning & understanding towards designing experiences for my users.
