• WeMo is a series of products from Belkin International, Inc. which allows users to control their home electronics from anywhere. I was involved in design and development of firmware for WeMo line of products which includes Switch and Sensor, Light Switch, Smart plug. These devices allow household electronics to be controlled from anywhere via mobile app.
• WeMo products uses the Gemtek SDK as core component and application is built on top of it. Due to the dependency on third party SDK, it was required and became the necessity to build the SDK in-house using OpenWRT Linux compiled for Ralink APSoc.
• This helps removing the dependency on third-party, cutting the major production cost and improving the margin on the product.
