Ramakrishna V — Head of Design
I’m Ramakrishna—an engineer-turned-designer shaped by curiosity, craft, and culture. What began as a self-taught journey has grown into 12+ years of building design teams, products, and systems that scale. Over the years, I’ve led teams of 60+ across product design, brand, motion, illustration, UX writing, and design engineering. Today, I head design at Headout, where we create experiences for millions of travelers worldwide—helping them discover, book, and remember the best moments of their lives. My approach to design blends creative instinct with data awareness, grounding ideas in real user behavior while keeping the craft uncompromised. At the core, my philosophy rests on two simple beliefs: - Design should delight. - Form and function live as one. Having traveled to 40+ countries, I draw inspiration from every place I visit—from the streets of Barcelona to the systems of Tokyo. These experiences shape how I think about people, products, and the role of design in everyday life. I believe good work comes from the right mix of smart effort and hard effort—not one without the other. That mindset shows up in how I lead teams, build culture, and take products from zero to one. Outside of work, I contribute actively to the design community through blogs and mentoring. For me, design should be shared, not stored—and the best way to grow is to teach what you learn.
