• As a Senior Software Engineer at FactSet, I spearheaded the creation of a transformative next-generation software system designed to efficiently load and retrieve critical financial risk data, totaling approximately 6 terabytes, from an advanced database infrastructure. The innovation was centered around optimizing the performance of data loading, where a strategic approach involved initial loading into SQL Server and subsequent export to FactSet's custom hash-based database.
• This visionary solution resulted in a staggering 97.77% improvement in data loading efficiency, reducing the processing time from 7.5 hours to an astonishing 10 minutes. Simultaneously, the fetching performance experienced a remarkable boost of approximately 52%, slashing the overall time from 25 minutes to an impressive 12 minutes. The deployed software now operates seamlessly as a service on production servers, enhancing scalability for users to build their own applications and access data effortlessly through our cloud service. • Responsible for building a database of 600,000 company profile by crawling and trawling most renowned websites forbes.com, top500guide.com, hoovers.com, crunchbase.com and builtwith.com. Crawled data was further processed to extract the most relevant parameters like revenue, no. of employees, year founded, etc... Extracted data was used to assign rank to each company.
• Searched 450,000 company’s URL on the internet by using the company’s name as a keyword. The crawler searched these companies using four major search engines Google, Bing, Yahoo, and Aol. The crawler intelligently selected US, UK, Canada, Sweden server based on the company’s geographical location to obtain the most relevant results from search engines.
• Responsible for crawling another four websites alexa.com, quantcast.com, freewebsitereport.org and builtwith.com to extract an additional set of information for 600,000 companies which include website’s popularity, daily online page views, and competitor’s information. I made a total crawl request of 2.4 million for building this entire database.
• Responsible for sentiment analysis of key people in an organization like CEO, CFO, VP, etc... by crawling their profiles/blogs from the internet. Build an algorithm which can analyze their sentiments and interest’s area to determine if it matches with any of SailThru’s product.
• The crawler architecture supported concurrency, efficient memory management for processing huge data, serialization and checkpointing to ensure it restores its last state in-case it ceases or crashes.
