As the Head of Engineering at Upswing, Gazal is deeply passionate about the future of fintech and the complex engineering challenges involved in building a secure, scalable, and resilient Banking-as-a-Service platform for Open Banking. Previously, he served as the Head of Engineering at Zilingo, where he led a 30+ member tech team and lead the engineering efforts behind Zilingo’s B2C and B2B Marketplace & Sourcing platforms. As the first engineering hire, he was a key contributor in architecting and scaling several core backend systems, ranging from Product Discovery, Inventory Management, Checkouts, Payments, Order Management to essential peripheral platforms like Identity & Access Management (IAM), Notifications, and Fintech infrastructure for the consumer side of the marketplace. Equally important, he played a pivotal role in growing the engineering organization to over 70 people. A key part of his leadership has been in DevOps, where he help setup a culture of ownership & reliability across the engineering team.
