• iGEM stands for International Genetically Engineered Machine. It is the world's largest synthetic biology competition held each year by Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston, USA. The competition aims at fostering the niche of synthetic biology, especially among the undergraduate student community. It gives students the opportunity to push the boundaries of synthetic biology by tackling everyday issues facing the world.
• Manage and coordinate all the dry lab activities that are a part of the competition
• Responsible for planning and direction of the research aspect of the project including project design and validation of results
• Work towards promoting the culture of SynBio at IIT Roorkee

• Worked under the mentorship of Dr Rowena Martin on a project in collaboration with the Deakin University, Melbourne
• The project aimed to identify novel drug targets in the malaria parasite
• Performed in-silico characterisation of proteins responsible for inducing new permeation pathways in the host
• Codon-harmonised multiple Plasmodium sequences for their expression in Xenopus oocytes

• Worked on the development of an in-silico platform for TEM beta-lactamase variants towards conferring antimicrobial resistance
• Worked towards developing a consolidated package containing entire information about TEM, including sequence, structure, docking and mutational studies of the enzyme
• Developed a non-redundant database containing 478 sequences of TEM beta-lactamase
• Developed an automated sequence analysis program to look for mutations at each position and also calculate the mutational frequency at each position
• Developed an automated modelling pipeline to model newly found sequences and dock them with different drugs to study their interactions
• Studied the mutational landscape of TEM and developed a structure-function correlation for the mutants
• Led a team of summer interns at Hazra Lab and trained them with various computational techniques to understand the structural and mutational aspects of various beta-lactamases
