About

I have more than 14 years of experience in technology journalism to creating new media products and services. Currently a Founding Partner at ANQ Finance. I look after multitude of things - International Expansion, Business Partnerships, Legal, Compliance, Fund Raise & Deal Flow. Earlier I lead the public policy initiaves at Wazirx, India's largest cryptocurrency exchange. Earlier, I led editorial and operations at Lokal, a Bengaluru based funded media startup backed by Y Combinator. We built Lokal into one of the biggest platforms for hyperlocal news, jobs, classifieds , matrimony etc in vernacular Indian languages. Before that, I lead a team of 200 plus reporters , cinematographers and filmmakers at Homescreen Network. It's a funded media startup. I have launched regional regional channels in Tamil, Hindi, Bengali, Kannada on our mini TV App called SparkTV. I create new shows every month for all languages. Apart from that I have created a training process wherein people from any background can become storytellers in less than 3 weeks. Before starting Homescreen Network, I was an investigative technology reporter for India's #1 Business Daily - The Economic Times. I continuously cracked page One breaking stories and helped launch many digital media initiatives.

Founding Team

Sep 2019Jul 2021 · 1 yr 10 mos · Bengaluru Area, India

  • I was the Head of Content @ Lokal, a Bangalore based, funded, local media start up which was backed by Y Combinator. With my experience from the previous role, I once again wear multiple hats in the company.
  • I developed the content and operations funnel to launch our hyperlocal news, jobs and services app in two states of India. This exercise involved sourcing citizen journalists, building a steady pipeline of content and more importantly managing the finances of this system to ensure we break even. The content ranges from topics like personal finance, education tech, documentaries and hyperlocal news especially around jobs.
  • Additionally, my belief in the importance of data made me leverage our analytics teams to gather insights that ultimately led to developing new features, tightening up operations and becoming more cost efficient.

  • In an era where magazines had started dying, I helped IDG pivot from written content to digital content in the form of videos. In my role as a producer, not only did I create and produce videos but also built the Digital Video Team. The team was pivotal in developing IDG's in-house capability of creating and producing documentaries, video interviews, case studies. It also enabled our clients to leverage live streaming to reach more clients than they had through in-person events. It helped IDG quickly adapt to a fast paced digital world before seeing a negative impact in revenue.
