I joined Bank Islam in May 2015 as Chief Financial Officer and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in December 2018. At Bank Islam, I chair various Management-level Committees. I also serve as a member of the Board of Directors of several companies within the Bank Islam group.A key highlight during my tenure in BIMB Group is growing its assets from RM46 billion in 2015 to surpass the RM100 billion mark in 2025. Another notable achievement is the formation of Sadaqa House Bank Islam, which marked a new business model for an Islamic bank in Malaysia. Next, the completion of the group restructuring in October 2021, in which Bank Islam assumed the listing status from BIMB Holdings and became the only standalone Islamic bank listed on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia. The other is the launch of “Be U” in July 2022, a fully cloud-native digital banking app that is the first of its kind in Malaysia. In addition, Bank Islam was recognised as one of the Top 50 ASEAN Public Listed Companies under the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard Regional Assessment and voted as the winner of the Leading Graduate Employers of 2025.Before that, I was with KPMG from February 1997 until April 2015. I was a Partner of KPMG and Executive Director of KPMG’s Management Consulting practice. In the earlier part of my KPMG career, I spent nine years in Financial Audit (including a two-year secondment to KPMG London). In the second part of my KPMG career, I spent nine years in Management Consulting, leading numerous advisory projects in the public and private sectors. I am presently the President of the Association of Islamic Banking and Financial Institutions Malaysia (AIBIM), a Council member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), and the Chairman of the Islamic Finance Committee of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
