Eduarena is a side project I launched while I was in my second year of college. This was my first real hustle and revenue.
The project was focused on students who didn't get into IIT through JEE exam(one of the toughest competitive exams in the world). So while everyone else was focusing on target market of 100k students, we increased our target market to 1100k by focusing on a different segment with a similar kind of offering. At its peak, we were doing 1 million+ visits per month and this is back in 2010 when internet connectivity was way lower than it is now. Even I used to work on it from a cyber cafe.
Experimented with advertisement and subscription based models on the revenue side.
