About

I am the Managing Director of Microsoft India Development Center (IDC) and President of Microsoft’s Experiences and Devices (E+D) India Group. I am passionate about technology, and my vision for IDC is to transform our development center into a hub of relentless cutting-edge innovation for the next billion users and help Microsoft achieve its mission of empowering every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. I have been with Microsoft all through my career and have worked across different technology groups in the US and India. I joined Microsoft's Redmond office through campus placement in 1992 as a Software Design Engineer with the Visual Basic Team. After 12 years at Redmond, I returned to India and joined the Microsoft India Development Centre, where I started the Office product development team which has grown over the years into the E+D team. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, where I was a proud recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus Award for Excellence in Engineering Innovation. I also hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Texas, Austin. Outside of work, I am deeply interested in spirituality and practice Yoga every day. I enjoy playing the Tabla (an Indian percussion instrument) and travelling the world with my wife and two daughters.

As the MD of IDC, I lead and represent the India Engineering leadership team for Microsoft’s largest global development center outside of Redmond, US. As the CVP of Experiences and Devices Group (E+D) India, I lead an organization of world-class engineering professionals across the Group’s product development sites in Bengaluru, Delhi and Hyderabad. E+D India works on a diverse suite of Office productivity solutions for desktop, mobile and web; services across Exchange, Teams and the M365 Substrate; and Platforms such as Outlook and Edge.

Leading the incubation and launch of Kaizala, an enterprise productivity chat app, from IDC. Kaizala is available to all eligible Microsoft 365 and Office 365 commercial customers worldwide, in 40 languages in over 180 markets and has half-a-million Monthly Active Users.
Leading the effort to reimagine Visio (from Hyderabad) into market relevance again for millions of global users and rejuvenating its growth in 2019.
Leading my team to deliver Office apps on Android in a record time of nine months.

In my role as the CVP of E+D India, I run a team of more than 2500 engineers, designers and programs managers across E+D India's three sites: Bengaluru, Delhi, and Hyderabad.
