Senior Member IEEE & ISA Dr Faruk Kazi received his PhD from IIT Bombay in 2009. He currently works as a Professor at VJTI Mumbai and faculty incharge VJTI-TBI (Startup incubator funded by DST, GoI). Earlier, he was Dean of R&D and Head of Electrical Department at VJTI. He is currently Director of R&D Cell at Mumbai University. He is also working as Advisor to USAID-SAREP and ISGF Working Group Chair on Digital Architecture and Cybersecurity. His research team is globally recognized for finding more than 80 CVEs and vulnerabilities in OT/IoT products of leading OEMs in critical infrastructure domains. He has published more than 115 research papers in various IEEE Journals and Conferences. He has worked as visiting research scholar at EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology) and has presented his research work at leading academic & research organization like MIT USA, CNRS France, MTNS Japan etc. He works as adjunct/visiting Professor at NIT Trichy and IIT Mandi. He is Chairman of Board of Studies (BoS) in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering at Mumbai University and member of various other academic committees in different leading academic institutes. He is also a member of State level steering committee for implementing NEP 2020 constituted by Government of Maharashtra. He has obtained research funding from various government funding agencies like NSCS, DRDO, ISRO, BRNS, DST, RGSTC and AICTE. He also received generous funding from industries like Siemens, Emerson, CISCO, L&T Elect (Schneider), L&T Infotech (LTI Mindtree) and Thermax for his research work on cybersecurity of critical infrastructures. Dr Faruk Kazi has contributed extensively in major infrastructural projects in the state of Maharashtra as well as at the national level. These include- (1) Technical Committee Member, “Electronics Policy for Mega Projects & PLI”- Ministry of Industry, Government of Maharashtra, (2) Advisor, Maha-Hub- Startup Incubation Centre of Government of Maharashtra, (3) Member of Dispute Resolution Board (DRB) for ATAL Setu, Mumbai Trans Harbor Link (MTHL), (4) Technical evaluator for mega capex projects for MERC, (5) water & waste water projects of BMC.
