About

Senior undergraduate at IIT Bombay, pursuing a major in Mechanical Engineering with a Minor in CSE. I am interested in Computer Systems, Robotics, and Software Engineering. I am currently researching Translation Validation for Compilers while also leading the nation's best underwater robotics student team. I spent last summer at Morgan Stanley, where I developed novel techniques for improving the precision of options pricing methods and eliminating erroneous price estimations. I am also enticed by open-source and actively contribute to SymPy, where I worked on speeding-up limit calculations as a part of GSoC 2021. I was also a GSoC Mentor in 2022 for SymPy.

  • Working on the design and development of an underwater Class-1, Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), aimed to be deployed for mid-sea inspection, scanning, and maintenance in seawater
  • Wrote low-level serial drivers to interface with the Doppler Velocity Log (DVL), Inertial Measurement Unit
  • (IMU), Pressure Sensor, Joystick Controller (PlayStation), and Servo Motors
  • Implemented a safety system for the ROV which detects obstacles and automatically avoids collisions
  • Implemented an image stitching algorithm for scarcely featured underwater images, and 3D Hull reconstruction using photogrammetry
  • Designed and implemented a Linear-Quadratic Regulator (LQR) Controller for all 6 Degrees of Freedom across the 8 thrusters of the AUV, using MATLAB, C++ and Robot Operating System (ROS)
  • Co-authored a Technical Design Report (TDR) on Matsya 6A for RoboSub 2020 and 2021

  • Designed a driver architecture for the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) customised to work purely on Linux, which can also perform in-house calibration, eliminating the use of external software and improving reliability
  • Developed automated dataset generation tool for Computer Vision models by building Bounding Box plugin for Gazebo which labels tasks in the camera feed (determined using perspective projection)
  • Curated scripts for complete automation, logging and data analysis of the simulation process (on Gazebo)
  • Tested a Generalized Cross-Correlation Phase Transform (GCC-PHAT) algorithm for Acoustic Localization
  • Refactored and modernized Matsya's 15,000+ lines codebase, upgrading Ubuntu, ROS and Python versions

  • A Computer Algebra System (CAS) written in Python with 2.5+ million monthly downloads. Among the 6 students shortlisted by SymPy out of 40+ candidates. Achieved a 40% speed-up for limit calculations by amending make-shift solutions to raise exceptions, and implementing proper handling of the exceptions across multiple modules. Refactored the Order and Accumulation Bounds classes in SymPy, to better handle basic operations.
