Rahul Raj — AI Researcher
Not looking for opportunities right now. I have graduated with a dual degree (Bachelors and Masters of Technology) in Electrical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. Right from the college days, application of technical know-how augmented with actionable strategies to solve real-life mathematical problems has always interested me. I always look for opportunities to apply my technical and statistical skills, accumulated from my engineering studies, to analytically probe into the problems and come up with intricate solutions. I got interested in finance after I joined Business Club, IIT Kharagpur in my fresher year. The club which dealt with finance, analytics, and consulting, exposed me to these three spheres in detail. With knowledge sessions, interactions discussions and assignments going by, my interest in finance grew many fold, specially trading. To pursue my interest in Quantitative Research, I joined Edelweiss Financial Services as an Intern in the summers of 2019. I worked on making event-based market neutral trading strategies for stocks across geographies. While working there, the way of threading into problems with surgical precision by data analysis, and innovative ideas backed up with statistics struck a chord with me because of how excitingly satisfying it was. Coming with its own set of challenges, I liked the way these nuances of problem-solving always kept me on my toes. For my excellent performance during the internship, I received a Pre-Placement Offer (PPO) from Edelweiss as a full time Quantitative Researcher. Upon graduation, I worked with Dolat Capital Pvt. Ltd. as Quantitative Research Analyst in the Options team. There, I primarily worked with market making team to ideate and deploy strategies, and analyze losses to improve them further. After a year of fulfilling experience, I joined Edelweiss as Quantitative Researcher in their Global Markets team where I developed mid frequency options strategies for Indian markets. Working in Edelweiss Financial Services as a systematic trading strategist introduced me to the world of systematic trading strategies, the meticulous planning it demands and taught me how to deliver consistently in a competitive landscape where the cost of small errors is too high. I possess strong work ethics, passion, inquisitiveness, unconventional yet pragmatic thinking, attention to details and expertise in statistical analysis. I am open to exploring roles primarily related to Quantitative Research, Data Science and Machine Learning, Quantitative Analyst, and Data Analyst.
