About

Working as a Lead engineer in Eightfold.ai in the Core Infrastructure team currently working on leading its Datawarehouse infrastructure. Prior which did my Masters in ComputerScience and DataScience in University of Massachusetts Amherst. As part of which I am fortunate to have worked under Prof Andrew Mc Callum and publish on Neural Question Answering systems in ACL MRQA, which was awarded best paper.

I joined eightfold.ai early on and as the company grew, I wore many hats and was fortunate to slide into the many challenges it needs solving.
I started of as a product engineer building its Scheduling product and taking it to GoLive.
This involved wear the hat as a PM at times, speaking to customers, their info-sec teams, doing the required unscalable stuff to scale. This is still the most stickiest product in the entire company platform.
I then pivoted to starting JobIntelligence platform which address the problem of how do we represent Roles across customers and enable them to do skill based hiring. I was the first engineer on this, worked with the leadership on the product direction, wrote the initial code, and was responsible for hiring & building a team around it.
Post which, I moved to the Infrastructure team starting a new sub-division called TestInfrastructure. This involved building tooling to catch regressions sooner, tooling to write better unit-tests without external dependencies, tooling to reduce Flaky tests
Then I moved, as a lead engineer, to address the analytics needs of the company.
a) This involved building and maintaining pipelines for building production grade BI dashboards. Like a tool for data analysts to construct a dashboard without writing code: the tool auto-generates code for it.
b) Rebuilding ETL pipeline from a Spark based batch systems to a Streaming based incremental pipeline.This reduced the staleness of the warehouse system to few mins from many hours, while maintaining strong consistency guarantees

Built a HIPPA compliant cloud orchestrator infrastructure over AWS
The infra was built to leverage the cheap AWS Spot compute there by requiring a smart bidding module, and changing the workflow to embrace checkpointing to deal with the ephemeral nature of spot instances.
Designed to distribute, monitor and parallelize the simulation jobs bringing an estimated 30% cost savings and 45% time reductions.
