  • As a backend dev, took an initiative to understand the old legacy code so that development can be done over it. Helped in scrapping out PHP code and replaced them with efficient NodeJS based systems. Implemented SOA based services written in NodeJS. Following are the different projects which I accomplished at Stayzilla:

  • 2. Socket Based Chat API(Team of 2) - Written from scratch, a socket based chatting system so that guests and hosts can communicate directly. It involved end to end implementation for creating new conversation, sending messages, restoring old conversations on new devices, notifications etc.

  • 4. Screening System(Team of 2)- As a brand new feature of Stayzilla, this screening system identifies potential guests for a particular hosts based on preferences, likes/dislikes and security safeguards.
  • 5. Modifying Search - It mainly involved integrating security and screeing system in the Search API. Also included showing various information collected using List Property service.
  • 6. Hotel Masking - Improved the use and efficiency of the innovative method to show hotel names using amenities and their place.
  • Apart from this, collaborated on a variety of projects, implemented versioning in APIs so as to support all the existing app instances simultaneously. Tried to understand, reciprocate and redevelop the old legacy code with an efficient one. Wrote various microservices.
  • Tools and techs : NodeJS, ExpressJS, Restify, Gulp, Grunt, Mocha, Promises, PHP, phing, Git, Jenkins, Nginx deployments and configurations

Wealthpack

Tech Lead and VP

Oct 2014Feb 2015 · 4 mos · Gurugram, Haryana, India

  • WealthPack is the first startup in India in personal finance.
  • General Overview:
  • Apart from handling the entire backend, I was involved in product ideation. My tasks included choosing a relevant theme to speed up the UI building process, giving inputs on the UI part and evaluating various technical difficulties which could come up to the other non technical co-founders and coming up at relevant technically feasible solutions.
  • Core Responsibilities:
  • Backend:
  • 1.Setting up the initial system. Configuring Django-MySQL to use Nginx via supervisor.
  • 2.Initiation of the project. Setting up third party clients and apps.
  • 3. Writing a custom api library which can be configured according to requirements.(did not use the library provided by the google due to conflicts). This also includes writing Batch API which helps to fetch in bulk and hence optimize the process.
  • 4. Setting up a parsing engine which extracts data and stores them in a relevant format.
  • 5. Developed a simple android app to run similar tests.
  • 6. Writing APIs for the Angular app setup on the browser based interface.
  • Frontend:
  • The dashboard and subsequent pages are condensed into a one page app. My duty was to setup the Angular App and utilize the APIs to construct a smooth frontend. Apart from core AngularJS, directives like angular-ui,ui.date,ui.calendar were used. Some directives were constructed from scratch.
  • An efficient caching system was involved to reduce the load on the server creating a smooth user experience.

Bluegape.com

Senior Web Application Developer

Jun 2014Aug 2014 · 2 mos · Gurugram, Haryana, India

  • Product Manager for Sell (http://sell.bluegape.com). A slightly similar version was available at http://bluegape.com (and it shutdown later due to copyright claims http://www.nextbigwhat.com/bluegape-shutdown-297/ )
  • This is the one and only portal for designers where they can upload their designs and we convert them into products. The complete web-app was built in 3 phases. These were the following features developed by me:
  • 1. The user can login via Google+, Facebook or Email and build his profile.
  • 2. He can submit a design which got auto wrapped around the product. For ex. if the user uploads a mug design, the script I made wrapped it around a mug.
  • 3. These pictures along with relevant data like price, name, description, meta-tags were used by API to directly make a product out of it and all of this process was automated.
  • 4. The products are made after certain super vision by admin whose approval for a design initiated the product formation process.
  • 5. Lots of customization options in the same to make the product as the designer wanted.
  • 6. Integrating Facebook Page permissions. If authorized by the user, its best products of the week were automatically posted on his page with his customized message and format.
  • 7. Fetching Sales Data from Ecommerce and using highcharts to show a user's performance over a period of time.
  • 8. Used datatables, jquery-fileupload and bootstrap to give a smooth user experience.
  • Apart from that, customized a t-shirt builder to suit our needs and made a platform for anyone to launch his/her tshirt selling campaign.

  • I and my friend Shaumik Daityari went on to create a social blogging platform. The features of the site included a blogging portal, a competition portal and premium blogging.
  • We organized blogging contest of the behalf of companies and generated traffic/content/seo for the same. Launching in September 2013, we ended up organizing 4-5 competitions. Our major break through was when we teamed up with COGNIZANCE 2014, the annual tech fest of IIT Roorkee.
  • The companies which were our clients:
  • 1. WebRiti
  • 2. Tripoto
  • 3. FunZoa
  • 4. Tonido
  • My Responsibilities:
  • Although being a tech guy, I contributed little to the technology. I took up marketing and promotion of the product. I had interaction with people across the industry which helped me expand my network.
  • During December I added a unique thing to our website. I noticed that people hesitated to participate due to the jury system which was unclear to them. I introduced 'free-talktime-to-all' features. Each entry got free talktime on their mobile numbers. In this way gathered more people who not only contributed, but also increased the participation.
  • We have given away prizes like Amazon Kindle, Travel Bag, Flipkart Vouchers, Cameras apart from talktime to each participant (ranging from Rs.50-Rs.100)
