• Worked on the backend team of Talk.to. Talk.to is a XMPP based messenger with supports messaging from various services such as Google, Facebook, MSN and its own PingPong service. I worked on building tools which could be used by the developers to test and monitor the usage of the messaging client. I wrote mock TCP and ZeroMQ clients that the servers could be tested against before the actual features were implemented on the frontend. As a part of the internship I also performed stress testing of the XMPP servers using the open source tool Tsung to make the servers run at optimal load. Profiling of the JVM on which the code for the server was running was done to see which parts of the code was using most resources and as a result of which code of those portions were optimized. Basics of the language Erlang was learnt to modify Tsung to test for some custom XMPP packets.
