As a firm believer in the power of startups, I started my exploration in 2013 when I interned at a startup, building news categorisation systems using big data and machine learning. I remember how thrilling it was to implement my first map-reduce using Hadoop. This early exposure to Big data, ML & python helped me in landing my first full time job at Commonfloor. As a platform Engineer at commonfloor, I built the prototype of a house recommendation system while honing my skills in Python, Django, microservices & AWS. Eager for more challenges, I joined another startup called Boomerang Commerce a year later as a DevOps Engineer. My first task was to optimise AWS expenditure and we achieved that by bringing a 30% drop in AWS bill using several automation and monitoring processes. We built several in house tools to build & deploy microservices at massive scale, tools to manage Security, Access Management, Intrusion Detection. This journey helped me extend my knowledge of Design Patterns, RoR, Java & Dropwizard, Openldap, Ansible, Docker, Jenkins, Hashicorp Vault, Terraform, AWS, and Kubernetes. But the pinnacle of my journey came when I found Evie, where I am currently working as a co-founder, in crafting the world's best AI Recruitment Coordinator. Evie has been an unending gift of challenges and rewards, from building NLP & NLG engines to integrating with platforms like Zoom, Successfactor, and condeco. At Evie, I'm deeply involved in the entire lifecycle, translating user requirements into product features, architecting components, coding, and deploying to production. This role has enriched my knowledge of Product Design, Software Design, Architecture, AI systems, and an array of technologies like Ruby on Rails, React & Redux, Python, Terraform, NLP, and Large language models. Beyond the technology part, Evie’s experience helped me develop the business acumen. It helped me truly understand the difference in engineering a tool vs building a product. I am so looking forward to all the magic Evie is going to bring to our customers. Beyond my professional pursuits, I indulge my curiosity in philosophy, psychology(my personal favourite is the Critique of Practical Reason by Emmanuel Kant), society, and politics.
