• What I did while working for mysel:
• I worked directly with clients, not just coding in a corner, but actually figuring out what they needed, what would make their customers happy, and how we could get there without burning out anyone in the process.
• Helped teams actually use Agile and Lean practices, not just stick some post-its on a wall and call it a day. The goal was always the same: make deliveries smoother and the product better.
• Designed architectures that wouldn’t fall apart the second traffic spiked or a new feature needed to be added. Future-proofing became kind of an obsession.
• Built out new service ideas, sometimes starting with nothing but a vague problem statement and turning it into a feature clients were excited to show off.
• Worked with a rotating crew of freelancers and junior devs. I did a lot of mentoring, a bit of hand-holding, and sometimes just stepped aside and let them do their thing.
• Got pretty deep into business strategy too. I wasn’t just asking, “What should we build?” but more like, “Why are we building this, and is it actually going to move the needle?”
• Depending on the client, I jumped in at different stages—sometimes just helping clean up legacy code, other times owning the whole product roadmap. Kind of like being a Swiss Army knife with a laptop.
• I often sat in on leadership meetings, translating tech speak into business terms.
