• Worked as a platform and backend engineer developing backend stack of a cloud-based platform for IoT devices.
• Major Projects:
• Implemented end-to-end data and control pipeline for alarm and notification system of current sensors. The system aims to detect anomalies if the IoT device records data that exceeds the threshold as per hardware specs. Built the support for alerting the end user in case of an anomaly.
• Implemented agents, one at the edge and one within the cloud, which minimized the network bandwidth usage between the leaf node and main database. Built network partition resilience and implemented data compression scheme to reduce bandwidth utilization.
• Improved reliability of on-site IoT devices in case of network partitions and low frequency of updates.
• Design and developed support for IoT devices that record discrete value data.

• Critical part of Groupon backend stack responsible for personalising the email newsletter for individual users. I was a part of the team in US and managed the end-to-end service responsible for generating user cache that is fed into SmartDeals for determining ranking of deals for each user. Deployed personalised email service platform for 8 countries in APAC region.
• Event Message Processor System
• Owned this piece of architecture responsible for servicing all the stream processing and user notifications for EMEA and APAC. Listens to a distributed publish subscribe system based on HornetQ (http://hornetq.jboss.org/) and uses JMX for remote management. Generates complete user data for consumption by downstream system that personalizes user experience.

• Worked extensively with Hadoop and wrote cascading MapReduce jobs to continuously evolve a large scale ranking system for computing relevant deals for ~10 million users based on email/click impressions, purchase history and their preferences.

• It was aimed at migration of user subscription service for APAC region and assuming complete ownership.

• Part of the web crawling team which maintained distributed load balanced system with crawlers developed over Scrappy. It uses Zookeeper for scheduling and load balancing, Mongo for storing crawling congurations and Hbase for storing data. My work included collecting merchant and deal data from competitive websites for US platform.
• Shipment Tracking Service
• Developed one stop shipment tracking service for Groupon, integrated with over 150 courier services. Built API integration with couriers having SOAP and RESTful web service and crawled the rest.

• The focus of the project was development and implementation of a fault tolerant, redundant and distributed live web based dashboard to monitor the live status of discrete system states. The project involved implementing the back-end using OptumSoft technology, which provides a framework for distributed programming.

• Surveillance Test Management System
• Developed software to automate the test management system of nuclear power plant. It was an individual project and focused on designing a Web Application that managed a pre-planned execution of tests on machines, circuits and systems incubated in the reactivity area of the nuclear plant.
