• With my team of data engineers, we build, maintain and support an AWS-based big data platform that powers all new reporting, advanced analytics and machine learning use cases at Scout24. The platform has tools for ad hoc analysis notebooks (custom tooling for Jupyter and Zeppelin on Amazon EMR), SQL query for our data lake (Presto on EMR with data in Amazon S3) and ETL (library of common data processing operations).

• After a successful tenure at AutoScout24 managing their ML-based Market Transparency products, I moved to Scout24 (the parent company of AutoScout24 and ImmobilienScout24) to enable data-centric product development across the entire organization by building the Scout24 Data Platform.

• Led launch of our machine learning based Market Transparency products in Germany, Austria, Italy and Belgium. Used in more than 3 million sessions per week.
• Successfully on-boarded and managed a near-shore development team of 7 engineers. Also, acted as interim engineering manager directly solving technical implementation problems with the team and performing after-hours on-call duty.
• Worked closely with our Data Science team to productize new data products.
• Worked closely with our UX Design and UX Research departments to ensure our user-facing products are simple and easy to use.
• Employed hypothesis-driven-development principles and agile working strategies to optimize engagement with products. Used this process to increased engagement with our pricing tool by 180%.
• Wrote analysis scripts and dashboards. Pioneered A/B testing techniques in the company’s new tech stack – ran over 20 A/B tests.

• Established the role of UX research within the company – 3 researchers when I left.
• Designed the low-level interaction of our product and continuously optimized using the results of analytics and qualitative user testing.
• Built our telemetry collection system (7.6TB of logs so far) and analysis pipeline (using Amazon EMR) to enable near real-time analysis of all users’ behavior individually or in aggregate (at the time we had around 500k DAU).
• Introduced A/B testing into our development process (47 tests analyzed). I built the system that randomly selects users for A/B tests and tracks their behavior.
• Taught onboarding courses to all new employees (around 55 in total) on our data collection philosophy and UX processes. Consistently rated as the top “professor”.
• Selected as one of 7 (out of approx. 75 employees) for an internal leadership development program based on my success building the UX research organization.
