Katherine was a partner and leading financial services regulatory lawyer at the international law firm Cleary Gottlieb and a founding partner of the firm’s Cybersecurity and Privacy practice. Katherine has been recognized as a leading financial services lawyer by Chambers USA, the Legal 500 and the International Financial Law Review, and was named a “Technology Law Trailblazer” in 2019 by the National Law Journal. Katherine served in the U.S. Department of Defense under Presidents Clinton and Obama, most recently as Counselor to Secretary of Defense Ash Carter. Prior to studying law, Katherine was the founding Executive Director of the Open Society Foundation in Uzbekistan. Katherine currently serves as an Independent Director on the board of Moneygram, a leading global payments company serving people in more than 200 countries. She holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and an A.B. from Harvard College in Russian and Soviet Studies.
