  • Promoted better engineering practices: Unit Testing, Coverage review, TDD, Bug Reproduction before fixing, Instrumentation of logs to catch unusual conditions and general live health checks, Testable code. All this practices improved stability reducing the number of production incidents from 2 or 3 times a week to 1 or 2 times a month.

  • As member of the CTO Office I was responsible of the overall server architecture for Devicescape services: connection, data acquisition and location based services to support over two million devices
  • The CTO Office is responsible for identifying new Intellectual Property and fostering patent creation on the Engineering team. I was quickly recognized as a key member of the team and Devicescape created the CTO Office composed by the VP of Products, the Chief Architect and myself.
  • Led the design and implementation of a new modular architecture on the server side to allow for clean separation of modules and horizontal scaling as needed
  • Led the design and implementation of Devicescape Easy WiFi network, associated Location Based Service and the new API for data collection, processing and device communication
  • As of 11/2009, the Easy WiFi network collects about 600k requests a day to maintain a realtime status for over 2.5MM access points and support over 1MM devices.
  • Key member of the migration from a standard hosting company to Amazon Infrastructure, project completed on time and budget and with minimal downtime
  • Created and promoted among the teams automated testing and unit testing for all new code and core parts of the existing code, improving the code quality and guaranteeing backwards compatibility which is key for Devicescape
  • Implemented the Google Checkout integration to allow charging from consumer applications and devices.
