Barq is a Saudi fintech startup revolutionizing digital finance for 8M+ users.
I am part of onboarding and authentication team at Barq. We are the first touch point for Barq users and we make sure we do it right.
Driving Barq’s expansion into new geographies - enhancing and upgrading onboarding to allow users from different geographies to onboard and use Barq wallet.
Reimagining onboarding experience for Barq users using temporal.io : Revamping the onboarding piece for resiliency and extensibility to cater to the scale that lies ahead of us.
Designed and developed onboarding flows for minor users (below 18 years) on the Barq app. This is a unique offering approved by the National Bank of Saudi Arabia, and I was privileged to contribute to such an empowering feature that enables minors to access Barq's fintech services.
Unified user and account APIs into a single GraphQL-inspired endpoint serving ~500 TPS across Barq microservices including payment services like P2P. This is a REST endpoint inspired by GraphQL, allowing clients to request only the specific fields they need within an entity. This significantly reduces the payload and improves performance, which is critical for enabling fast upstream calls in P2P payments, helping Barq remain a robust system as its customer base grows.

➣ Implemented C++ code changes to increase customer availability by not slowing down writes on primary database instance and rather cutting the Mirror Complete LSN for the lagging mirror volume (secondary database).
➣ Revamped Operating System patching automation using Python and Bash, ensuring security compliance across 1.25 lac servers, reducing deployment time by 3X and transitioning over 50% of the fleet to Amazon Linux 2.
➣ Addressed assert statement issues in Storage Node microservice C++ API entry points, resulting in nearly 100% reduced process crashes in production by providing proper failed API responses.
➣ Optimized capital expenditure by scaling down surplus production host by evaluating key metrics like memory, CPU, latency, disk usage etc resulting in cost reduction of more than $15 million for Aurora Storage in around 4 month time period while ensuring secure customer data handling.
