  • Working in a newly-formed team with the mission to make Google Cloud and Apigee (part of Cloud AI) the most reliable platforms in the universe by developing and re-engineering some of the core infrastructure and systems that handle billions of API requests every day and trillions every year with 99.999% availability including:
  • Every online order from Starbucks
  • Every time a UPS package is tracked
  • Every sale at Burberry
  • Every command sent to a Philips Hue light bulb
  • Every time a FedEx driver scans a package
  • Every photo printed at Walgreens
  • Every visit to Walt Disney World
  • ➔ Won "gHacks", Google's inaugural company-wide AI hackathon. Conceptualised "SafeStride", a way-finding system built on Google Maps using Gemini to find the safest walking route for users. Selected by CEO of DeepMind as winner, team presented in front of Google CEO and entire company in California.

  • ☁️☀️🌈🦄⭐️🍭✨ Kept Google Cloud thunderstorm-free ☁️☀️🌈🦄⭐️🍭✨
  • Solved complex technical problems for flagship Google Cloud enterprise customers by applying troubleshooting, networking, system administration and software development "expertise".
  • ➔ Joined as youngest Google Technical Solutions Engineer in the world and with no degree and no idea what I was doing.
  • ➔ Resolved the most customer issues in April, my second month, out of any engineer in the team globally.
  • ➔ Resolved complex technical issues involving API web technologies including HTTP/S, DNS, TCP/IP, SAML/SSO, TLS, OAuth, Nginx, Apache ZooKeeper and Apache Cassandra for some of the largest multinational companies in the world, spread across multiple timezones and continents.
  • ➔ Proactively coded multiple internal automation tools and systems using languages including Python, JavaScript and SQL, and using services like App Engine, Compute Engine, Firestore, BigQuery, Data Studio and many others, reducing manual toil by up to 100%.
  • ➔ Weekday and weekend primary on-call duty, providing critical production support within minutes for global customer outages and production traffic-impacting issues. Became a pro at sitting on calls for hours at a time.
  • ➔ Conducted 50+ interviews across Google for technical and non-technical roles and convinced candidates I actually knew the answers to the questions I was asking.

Infrastructure Technician Apprentice, Corporate Engineering

Promoted

Oct 2018Jan 2020 · 1 yr 3 mos · Greater London, England, United Kingdom

  • Worked within Corporate Engineering to provide "exceptional" technical support to Google employees both in London and globally. Supported over 900 employees directly and onboarded upwards of 1000 new hires. Ruined Nooglers' first day by being the first face they see.
  • ➔ Provided first-line and second-line technical support to Google employees through Google's internal tech support known as "Techstop", troubleshooting issues across macOS, Linux, Windows (lol), Chrome OS, Android and iOS. Unashamed and proud to announce that the majority of issues were fixed by just restarting the laptop.
  • ➔ Led and jointly ran weekly Noogler IT orientation for all new temp workers joining Google in the UK, which involved presenting to and directly managing groups of up to 70, handling account and device setup and troubleshooting. I don't think any of them will forget my presentations in a hurry. Shoutout to one attendee who thought I was Tom Holland.
  • ➔ In-depth internal data analysis using SQL, BigQuery and Data Studio to present back at senior-level meetings.
  • ➔ Attended external Google events such as Zeitgeist to provide executive technical support and solutions to to Google C-level execs such as the CEO of DeepMind, the CFO and CBO of Google and Alphabet and CEOs of client organisations. Even Dua Lipa was there! She didn't sing though :(
  • ➔ Created and maintained user-facing and team-facing documentation and proactively implemented a digital signage system to display informational tech support content I made. YES that's right, the graphic design seen in my LinkedIn banner was on full display across all London offices!

Digital Marketing Apprentice, Large Customer Sales and Hardware Marketing

Sep 2017Sep 2018 · 1 yr · Greater London, England, United Kingdom

  • Worked within the FMCG and Beauty Large Customer Sales (LCS) teams and 20% in the Made by Google Consumer Hardware Marketing team. I still think it's really funny I got placed within the beauty and makeup team.
  • ➔ Conceptualised, launched and led a new initiative called "Gen Z Insights" which created a platform for young employees to provide insights to brands about how younger generations use the internet and especially YouTube, with an emphasis on what type of creative resonates best with a younger demographic. Launching internationally across all Google locations, we received interest from brands and teams all over the world including in Singapore, London, New York, Los Angeles and Mountain View.
  • ➔ Analysed YouTube videos and channels for major CPG brands by using Google Analytics data to highlight areas for improvement and testing hypotheses with data, which has inspired brands to invest more in YouTube. This is where I had to hide my lack of makeup expertise.
  • ➔ Made Google content speak British innit, with my work being visible to millions of Google users.
  • ➔ Boosted team efficiency by 10x through automating a 200+ device inventory (worth £100ks). Additionally, ensured seamless device management for key events like MWC and YouTube Music, contributing to Google's event success. I have learned if you say "improved by 10x" that sounds really cool.
  • ➔ Represented Google at many external flagship events including the Pixel 2 launch at Selfridges, Stylist Live, Google Home Mini Donut Tour and the Children’s Global Media Summit and demonstrated Google hardware devices to the press and public by going off script and doing crazy demos.
