About

As a Director of Engineering at Deel, I lead 60+ engineers globally across 6 teams in the Payroll org, where I lead multiple areas of the product - PEO, Benefits, Tax Filing, and Rewards. I have over 13 years of experience as a full-stack engineer and 7 of it as an engineering manager, building products and platforms at scale, with a strong passion for product engineering and developer productivity. Previously, I joined Rippling as an early engineer and one of the founding members of the Benefits team, where I built the first version of the Insurance Product and scaled it to 5000+ customers. I went on to lead a big part of the Benefits Product where I handled multiple teams overseeing Group setup, renewals, and flexible benefits parts of the product.

  • Decided to take a career break after having spent 5 rigorous years in Rippling.
  • Spent most of my time with my family, caring for my newborn while my spouse took on a new venture.
  • Setup tech and ops processes' for my spouse’s new venture - Tailor Boat. In the process, learnt a lot about the custom tailoring industry and how boutiques and tailors work, etc. Automated common workflows to save time.
  • Building RotaSync.com - an on-call collaboration automation app.

  • Role: Sr Engineering Manager in the Benefits Product org
  • I lead 14 engineers across two teams in the Benefits org - Company Enrollments and Flex Benefits. Common responsibilities across both teams include:
  • Manage the team - performance management, mentoring and coaching them and being responsible for their growth.
  • Responsible for the engineering roadmap, technical decisions, shipping features, code reviews, mentorship, hiring, recruiting, interviewing as well as handling customer support for the parts of the product I own.
  • Company Enrollments (India) -
  • The goal of this team is to make it really simple for companies to get new/modify their existing group insurance. This is a team I started and built from scratch, growing it to its current size of 8 members.
  • Own and drive the Open Enrollments/New Group Enrollments (OE/NGE) part of the product.
  • Flex Benefits (USA) -
  • Took over this team in Q2 2023
  • The goal of this team is to help rippling customers enroll in and manage non-insurance benefits. We currently offer HSA, FSA and Commuter benefits in the US, and support pensions globally. The offerings are expected to grow over time to include more benefits like HRA, 401k, etc. while also scaling the global pension offering to more countries.
  • Currently hiring for this team in the US.
  • In addition to the above roles, I've also done the following:
  • As a Recruiting Marshall, trained and onboarded new interviewers in the company. Also function as a bar-raiser in the interview loop and lead debriefs to ensure we maintain a consistent standard across candidates.
  • Interviewed a significant number (500+) of candidates and contributed heavily to growing the site (including non tech roles - HR, Tech recruiting, etc).
  • Lead Rippling Academy program for 2022 - bootcamp for 20 new grad engineers to get them Rippling ready.
  • Lead the India campus recruiting program for 2021 and 2022.
  • Tech Stack - Django/Python, Go lang, MongoDB, React/JavaScript, AWS
