• ADE(Avatar Distribution Engine):
• Implemented a RAFT consensus module in Linux Kernel.
• Developed the Uber Namespace(UNS) framework, a hierarchy of directory structures with inheritable policies/attributes in a multi-tenant file system.
• Integrated UNS with RAFT module to achieve high availability.
• Enhanced the RAFT algorithm for ADE file system:
• Introduced a pseudo-leader state to switch cluster to a read-only state in absence of majority.
• Allow multiple instances of RAFT on a single node.
• Caching of log indexes to improve log read performance.
• Classification of state machine execution errors to remove a RAFT node from the cluster.
• Co-Developed consistency checker for UNS.
• Developed a notification subsystem to send notifications from kernel to userspace using procfs and inotify framework.
• Implemented a mechanism to change the maximum number of storage segments and number of inodes per segment in a ADE file system during compile time.
• Advfs(Advanced File System):
• Co-Developed O_ATOMIC directive to open call to achieve atomic updates of user data files.
• Co-Developed fsyncv ioctl to achieve simultaneous atomic updates of multiple files.
• Implemented NFS export operations for advfs
• Refactored locking infrastructure to stop spurious irq restores and prevent out of order locking.
