Sepehr Lorestani — SRE (Site Reliability Engineer)
There was a time I studied physics at university, but I soon discovered my true passion lay in the world of computers. What fascinated me the most was how technology could tackle problems previously considered too complex or impossible to solve. I embarked on a journey of self-study to bridge the gaps in my computer science education. My first role as an Oracle DBA intern was a surprise entry into the field (and I'm still not sure why I was chosen!), but it introduced me to the wonders of Linux—thanks, Linus Torvalds! This experience led me to a career as a Linux system administrator. I then ventured into everything related to infrastructure: CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, automation, high availability, and fault-tolerant design. Leading the infrastructure team at an e-commerce startup in Iran involved long days, nights, and even holidays, but those were some of the best days of my career, filled with growth and team education. In February 2018, my career path brought me to the Netherlands and Lunatech Labs. There, I began automating infrastructure and implementing SRE best practices for clients like Audi and ING. April 2020 marked another career highlight when I joined Schuberg Philis. Here, I work within self-steering teams, harness cutting-edge solutions, and solve business problems through technology. This role has reminded me how much I love what I do and I truly admire Schuberg Philis for its ethos. Technical Skills/Interests: Over the years, I've honed a robust portfolio of technical skills, including: Cloud Management with AWS Infrastructure as Code using Terraform Container Orchestration with Kubernetes and Docker High Availability and Fault Tolerant System Design Disaster Recovery Networking with Cilium Monitoring and Observability with Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, and Grafana Cloud Cost Optimization strategies for financial efficiency Programming proficiency in Python and Golang to support and enhance infrastructure tasks Soft Skills: My technical prowess is complemented by a suite of soft skills that are essential in today's collaborative work environments: Commitment and Drive: I bring a 100% mindset to every project, driving excellence and innovation. Mentoring and Leadership: I am dedicated to nurturing talent and leading teams, empowering colleagues to excel and achieve collective success. Stakeholder Communication: I excel in translating complex technical details into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.
