  • Worked in AESAR project which aimed at indigenous development of India’s first airborne radar for fighter jets to be used in Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas. Worked on the following aspects of AESAR :-
  • Implemented ‘Constant Gamma model’ for modelling Land Clutter in C language. This model is very useful for analysing target visibility and studying the effectiveness of other target detection algorithms (CFAR etc.) in clutter scenario
  • Developed and implemented a new algorithm called ‘Regional Constant False Alarm Rate’ in C language for reduction in false alarms in target detection. Experiment shows number of false alarms reduction to 1/3rd of the original false alarms in best case.
  • Developed a Scatter-Gather technique for data transpose of big matrices on multiple processors using VxWorks which is not feasible on single processor due to RAM limitations
  • Developed algorithms for Synthetic Aperture Radar, Weather Mode and Air to Ground Ranging modes in C language and VxWorks for multiprocessor system and their testing on hardware and at rooftop radar system
  • Simulated above signal processing models in MATLAB and carried out initial verification of these models
  • Performed real time data recording and analysis during flight sortie on roof-top radar
  • Analysed flight sortie record data and boosted Radar performance by studying the effect of various window sizes for arriving at an optimal window size for target detection techniques like Regional CFAR where the false alarm rate is reduced to 1/3rd
