I worked in the Payments vertical of B.com, where I was a core contributor to a set of components that were used to integrate with various Payment Service Providers(PSPs) in order to send/receive payments on behalf of customers/partners.
Said systems coordinated in an event-driven fashion (using Apache Kafka as the message bus) and maintained an audit-trail by employing Event Sourcing.
I endorsed the usage of an actor-based paradigm for modelling transactions (and their lifecycles). This approach yielded itself more elegantly to applying the Event Sourcing pattern.
