Structured Data (Rich Snippets) extraction for Knowledge Panel - Important Project for Google and completed before Google I/O 2013. Knowledge panel has been a crucial part of Google Search since last year and Google extracts data from multiple trustworthy resources to display data in KP. Hence our role was to write scripts in python to extract structured data from Tier-1 websites around the globe for different-different categories (Like -events, products, movies etc.). Once the data is extracted, we test it for accuracy by matching the data from other websites. We used to crawl only those website here which have already implemented Rich Snippets in their websites for Google supported categories.
