Goutam Dutta is Emeritus Professor of Operations Management Area and former Chairperson of Doctoral Program in Management at IIMA. He has joined IIMA after spending 11 years in Corporate India. He has about 45 years of experience of working in multinationals, in teaching, research and consulting in three continents (Europe, North America and Asia). He has travelled to 18 countries and taught in 6 countries. He has taught in important universities like London School of Economics,UK, HEC Paris, France and University of Illinois at Chicago . His has trained over 3700 executives in last 23 years in Leadership Development, Project Management, Revenue Management and Dynamic Pricing, and in Operations Management. He is probably the first to design and develop Revenue Management and Dynamic Pricing Course in India in 2004. His work (with six others) at Tata Steel resulted a direct financial benefit of 73 million USD for which the company awarded prestigious Franz Edelman Prize (first Asian Company). It was recognized by International Federation of Operational Research Societies. His work (with Robert Fourer) became a licensed software. His research papers (about fifty two) have appeared in major international journals. He was in the editorial board of four major international journals, JORS, INFORMS Journal of Applied Analytics (IJAA),and IJRM and currently a Sr. Associate Editor of OPSEARCH, and former Associate Editor of OMEGA, International Journal of Management Sciences and International Transactions in Operations Research. He is the former Chairperson of Agricultural Business Management Program at IIMA (Currently Rated No 1 in the world). He was awarded P.C. Mahalanobis Distinguished Educator Award of ORSI. He is a (Distinguished) Fellow of Operational Research Society of India (ORSI) and was its 43rd President (2019). He was the Chair of Research and Publications Committee at IIMA(2007-2010). He was selected as Sr. Member of INFORMS in March 2024 for his contribution to INFORMS. He aspires that India must play a major role in twenty first century in the world. He believes in world peace and looks for a world order where every children has a right to parental love, free education, access to decent healthcare and opportunity for growth.
