About

Hi! I am an MBA second year student at the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (PGP 2024-2026), India, and a recent graduate with an MS in Chemistry (Chemical Biology) from the University of Chicago (Class of 2023), USA. I pursued my BS in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (Class of 2022). During the course of my education and fundamental training so far, I have managed to gain valuable exposure to cutting-edge research and development at the forefront of exciting new innovation and technology in the core domains of Chemistry and Life Sciences, ranging from Theoretical and Quantum chemistry, to Bioinorganic and Medicinal Chemistry, to Molecular Biology and Chemical Biology. Meanwhile, through my own research pursuits in the promising field of design and application of cutting-edge DNA nanodevice technology to uncover and tackle the unmet needs in healthcare and life sciences, I have gained important transferable skills and values that enable me to strive towards contributing to the greater good of the community at large. Additionally, as an aftermath of my multi-faceted background and through the exposure to a diverse range of fields, I also harbor a strong fascination and keen interest in fields beyond the core scientific research domains that I have been long associated with. As such, in alignment with my long term goal of bridging the gap and enabling promising narratives between the academia and the industry in the Healthcare space, I look forward to my education and training in Business and Management as the next most valuable and logical career move. Though quite the uncharted waters, I believe this daunting, but exciting career path would allow me to leverage my training and ever-growing fascination for Healthcare, Chemistry, Life Sciences and Research, in amalgamation with my education and experience in Business and Management, to someday address the unmet needs and matters of importance in healthcare, and in uplifting and improving its accessibility and quality for one and all. On the extra curricular front, I am an ardent music and culture enthusiast, and a national scholar in music, under the Central Govt. of India. I love interacting with people, listening to their stories, celebrating their journeys, while drawing inspiration for my own! I am always up for discussing innovative and exciting new ideas, interesting opportunities for collaborations and valuable brainstorming on a diverse range of topics! I look forward to inspiring connections and valuable opportunities for holistic growth and learning!

Summer School/Workshop 2021 on ‘Recent Advances in Spectroscopy, Catalysis and Synthesis’

Jun 2021Jul 2021 · 1 mo

  • An incredibly amazing learning experience , getting to know the very diverse research profiles of so many prestigious researchers and Professors of my Department of Chemistry at IITK, learning the very important milestones and foundations of cutting edge research in the field of synthesis, catalysis and Spectroscopy! This was an absolutely prosperous, promising and very inspiring opportunity in Summer 2021 and I shall remain forever grateful to the HOD, Prof. J K Bera , Prof Pratik Sen & the panel of outstanding faculty members for making this Summer School a great place for learning, with topics ranging from designing vaccines to photonics to drug development to something as intriguing as the process of evaporation itself and all the way to Fluorescence imaging and spectroscopy, Asymmetric and Total synthesis, enzyme catalysis, Astrochemistry, TEM, Biomimetics and the unending list of absolutely engaging and very inspiring topics, from Physical to Inorganic to Organic to Interdisciplinary domains! 3 weeks, 30 lectures, amazing fields of research and the journeys of the speakers just ignited in me the spirits to dream higher, never give up and make the best out of every possible scenario, be it however challenging! I feel extremely blessed to have spent these three weeks, with all the dedication and enthusiasm to learn and grasp to the best of my capabilities and take newer motivation for my own research goals! I was especially elated at the efforts of the Professors in clearing the doubts or answering the intriguing questions in the QnA sessions. I loved thinking out of the box and getting some of the best answers and more food for thought, asking atleast one question, in almost every QnA session! Looking forward to many more such enriching learning opportunities ahead!

Surge 2021, iit kanpur

Summer Research Intern

May 2021Jul 2022 · 1 yr 2 mos · India

  • Summer '21 was supposed to be at the prestigious Ludwig Maxmillan University, Germany for which I was selected under Prof. Lena Daumann and Research Group, after an amazing interview and a very fascinating seminar by Prof Daumann. But the pandemic took a toll and experimental research objectives in the field couldn't be met in WFH mode. Hence, Surge 2021 came to the rescue. Surge 2021 is currently ongoing under Prof. Dharmaraja Allimuthu in a WFH mode. The topic of the comprehensive review and formulating design is "Applications of fluorescent small molecules/ proteins for tracking protein aggregation". The topic will remain dynamic to allow more inclusivity and as much of literature review to be covered as possible so as to be able to gain a holistic perspective of this very promising field of research and to be able to formulate the design of a probe of my own , while extending this internship theme to an Undergraduate Project thereafter, with practical lab work and synthesis ; though the work domain and theme, as already mentioned, remain dynamic and open to vast possibilities of inter disciplinary blends !

  • I was selected for a prestigious Summer Internship 2021 at the Ludwig Maxmillan University of Munich by Dr. Lena Daumann, following an amazing interview leading from a simple question that I had put forward in one of the very interesting and insightful seminars of Prof. Daumann. However, pertaining to the second wave of Covid 19 in India, this internship had to be cancelled. Nevertheless, the entire process of selection starting from one out-of-the-box question that I dared to ask to the amazing Prof. Daumann, who was very kind enough to then recognize my potential and consider me worthy for this position has indeed been a great inspiration in itself for me! Although losing that internship to inevitable circumstances really disheartened me, but my love for the domain and my thirst for learning has only increased manifolds since then!

Amyloids : In disease to promising material, National Winter Conference, 2019

Dec 2019Dec 2019 · 0 mo · Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India

  • I was the youngest and the only UG participant in this ANNUAL BSBE WINTER MEETING 2019 on 'AMYLOIDS: IN DISEASE TO PROMISING MATERIALS' organised by the Biological Sciences and Bioengineering Dept., IIT Kanpur. The focus of this meeting was to bring amyloid researchers of India together to share their research in the areas of amyloid disease diagnosis, mechanism of amyloid formation, drug discovery and using amyloid for material design. Participants got exposure to techniques and cutting-edge research through lectures and discussions. Researchers got an opportunity to discuss future goals of amyloid research in India, developing a platform for collaboration, exchange of students and sharing infrastructure among their labs. This meeting served as a unique opportunity where both basic and clinical researchers came together to brainstorm on the possible ways to investigate and handle amyloid diseases in India. The meeting also discussed the strategies for making guidelines for amyloid diagnosis and evaluation of amyloid disease spreading by amyloid materials. I was lauded for critical thinking and for the resourceful questions that I posed after almost every session and for being very involved and actively brainstorming on the theme and the research prospects, with good level of comprehension, despite the topics requiring much higher comprehensive ability as compared to the standards of Undergraduate studies. It has been an immense source of inspiration for me to consider Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery as a promising field of interest.
